Last Saturday, Ramadan or Aïd El-Fitr was celebrated in peace and joy by the Muslim Community in Togo. The event was marked by various activities including prayer sessions at several places.
In Lomé, the «special» great prayer of the Ramadan celebration took place on the playground of the Senior Secondary School of Tokoin. It gathered a great crowd of Muslims among whom the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr. Fambaré Ouattara Natchaba and many other Muslim personalities as well as some Government Officials.
The prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Lome town. El Hadj Mama Youssouf Guimba. On the occasion, he prayed Allah for peace, prosperity and happiness in Togo. He also requested the merciful Almighty to grant blessing, strength and grace to the Head of State, Gnassingbé Eyadèma for all he has been doing for the Muslim Community in Togo. Besides, the Imam prayed for the Members of Government and Parliament so that they may be more enlightened in the management of the State affairs.
Referring to the ongoing political disturbances and violences in some African countries and in the whole world. El Hadj Youssouf Guimba was very grateful to Allah for having saved our country from the atrocities of war.
At last, he besought God to make prevail full love, good understanding and mutual forgiveness in Togo.
Alike prayer sessions were held at several other places in Lomé, namely at Béniglato, the Stadium of Agoè, etc.
It should be noted that the Ramadan fasting, according to the Muslims, is observed by every faithful follower of Muhammad to acquire moral asceticism and be closer to Allah, the Almighty in order to receive heavenly reward.
