The Stadium of Kegue in Lomé hosted a great prayer session that can be described as the apotheosis of the celebration. The Prime Minister, Mr. Komi Selom Klassou; the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr. Dama Dramani; other government officials; as well as several guests honored the event with their presence. The Deputy Imam of the Great Central Mosque of Lomé, El Hadj Baki Bako, conducted the prayer session. Recalling the background of the feast, El Hadj Baki Bako noted that the beginning of the Aïd El Kébir dates back to the day Abraham proved his faithfulness and obedience to Allah by attempting to sacrifice his only son Ismaël. But, in His divine mercy, God provided a sheep in place of Ismaël. From then on, the slaughter of sheep on that unforgettable day has been perpetuated from generation to generation. On this occasion, the attendees prayed for the nation and its leaders. It is worth recalling that the Aïd El Kébir was celebrated throughout the country.
