On their part, Muslims held a special prayer session last Monday to express their thanks to Allah. A special Muslim prayer was held throughout our country last Monday. The main purpose was to pay homage to «Allah the Great » for having led the national political dialogue to a happy ending. In Lomé, the prayer session look place at the great mosque thronged with the followers of Muhammad who besought God to help Togo leaders implement the political agreement concluded. Led by the Imam of the said mosque, El Hadj Issifou Guimba, the special prayer was attended by Muslim Dignitaries among whom the Speaker of the National Assembly, El Hadj Abass Bonfoh; Government Officials and other authorities. In his prayer, Imam Issifou Guimba entreated Allah to grant the virtues of solidarity and unity to all Togo people. He then requested God to bless the Head of State, one of the foremost actors thanks to whom the dialogue was a success. « May Allah grant health and happiness to the President of Republic and may the spirit of God lead Togo people from the south to the north », he implored. On his part, the Chairman of the Union of Togo Muslims (UMT), El Hadj Ahmed Tétou underscored that the political agreement signed last 20th August is a satisfying event opening a new era for Togo and paving the way for national unity based on acceptance of differences. He also expressed his strong wish to see the agreement be fully implemented by all the signatories. Besides, he besought God for blessing and protection in favour of the Burkinese President, Blaise Compaoré for his laudable mediating role. A collective prayer put a stop to the ceremony. It will be recalled that earlier last Sunday, the Christian Community held thanksgiving services all over the country. The Head of State, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé attended a Protestant service held by the Evangelic Presbyterian Church of Togo at Apégamé in Lomé.
