On 4 November 2019 in Kosyam, Roch Marc Christian Kaboré received Florence Parly, who announced Operation Bourgou IV against terrorism in the Burkina-Mali-Niger tri-border area. Two Burkinabè military units, supported by Barkhane, were to operate there in the following days. Their discussions also covered the resumption of G5 Sahel military operations, the 3S partnership to extend cooperation to police and gendarmerie forces, and opening the G5 to other ECOWAS countries.
