	Within the framework of the pilgrimage to Mecca this year, the first wave of Muslim pilgrims left Lomé last Monday. Their plane took off at Gen. Gnassingbé Eyadèma International Airport after they had been seen off by the Minister of Territorial Administration, Decentralization and Local Communities and Chairman of the National Commission for Pilgrimage termed “Hadj 2016”, Mr. Payadowa Boukpessi, along with the Security Minister, Col. Damehame Yark and the General Director of the National Civil Aviation Agency, Col. Gnama Latta as well as parents and friends.

	Within the framework of the pilgrimage to Mecca this year, the first wave of Muslim pilgrims left Lomé last Monday. Their plane took off at Gen. Gnassingbé Eyadèma International Airport after they had been seen off by the Minister of Territorial Administration, Decentralization and Local Communities and Chairman of the National Commission for Pilgrimage termed “Hadj 2016”, Mr. Payadowa Boukpessi, along with the Security Minister, Col. Damehame Yark and the General Director of the National Civil Aviation Agency, Col. Gnama Latta as well as parents and friends. The first wave includes 355 pilgrims. Yesterday another group also flew to Saudi Arabia to comply with the Islamic law. The flights will go on until Friday. Overall 1,650 Togolese pilgrims will travel to Mecca. Three weeks long, the Muslims from all over the world will strengthen their faith and purify themselves in order to have divine grace. It is an occasion for them to beseech Allah to forgive their sins and to pray for their businesses, families, friends and countries.

Before the departure of the first wave of pilgrims from Lomé, Minister Payadowa Boukpessi said to be glad that all the steps were taken to enable the pilgrims to travel in good conditions. He requested them to pray for peace in Togo and in the world.

As for Minister Damehame Yark, he reminded the passengers of the security and safety regulations on board and after landing in Saudi Arabia. He particularly urged them to follow strictly the directives of the guides at their disposal.

Col. Gnama Latta reassured them that all the security measures were taken so that their journey be safe.
