On the occasion, the pilgrimage organization commission members made an assessment of last year's journey and committed themselves to try their best in the future. In their view, last year's pilgrimage didn't meet the expectations of all the pilgrims. According to Prof. Bouraïma Boukari, a member of the said commission, pilgrims encountered difficulties last year, especially in connection with their transport to Mecca and accommodation in that Islamic holy city in Saudi Arabia. The commission tasked with the organization of the pilgrimage to Mecca and the heads of the involved travel agencies held a meeting last Monday. The meeting was chaired by Minister Pascal Akoussoulèlou Bodjona, in charge of Territorial Administration, Decentralization, and Local Communities, in the presence of other government officials. They included the Senior Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr. Elliott Ohin, along with both Ministers Kpabrė-Sylli of Tourism and Latta Gnama of Security. The sitting took place on the premises of Minister Bodjona's Department in Lomé. At the close of the meeting, Prof. Bouraïma Boukari stated that they were resolved to take necessary measures to improve the next pilgrimage to help the Muslims perform the Islamic rituals in better conditions. As for the spokesman of the travel agencies, Bin Idriss Malam Taïrou, he expressed gratitude to the Togolese Head of State as well as the Ministers involved in the pilgrimage organization. He seized the opportunity to call upon all the Muslims willing to go to Mecca to get registered early in order to enable the commission and the travel agencies to carry out their duties successfully.
